If you've checked out the coverage using XOHM.com's coverage map, you've probably noticed that it offers you two different search options: "Modem" and "Mobile Device" coverage. The coverage looks different depending on which one you choose!!

It seems like a very confusing way to set up their maps, as they offer zero explanation as to what the difference is. After THREE phone calls to XOHM, it was finally explained that the "home modem" offers a much wider range due to its powerful internal antennas - hence the difference in coverage range.

Hopefully sprint will be able to place a wimax transmitter on most of their cell towers with WIMAX having a range of30 miles, this will make the internet affordable and faster for everyone.

I don't think so, the coverage in my area is much smaller. While WIMAX may be able to be focused for 30mi I believe that they are using different equipment that is good for ~5mi..
