| Wasn't able to connect at all Sunday and Monday. Was able to connect most of today. I did a speedtest comparison with my coworker's VZ usb data card. My download speed was 13 times faster and upload speed was 8 times faster. |

| I confirmed coverage on the NW side of Chicago (Logan Square area) but it drops frequently and speeds are slow. The fastest I was able to d/l was about 1.2 Mbps -slower than my ATT DSL-. Think I'm going to cancel and wait for the offical rollout. Not worth it right now. Anybody have better luck in my area? |

| Yeah, the disconnects are killing me too. Got a nice phone call from xohm customer service last Friday checking to see if everything is okay with my service. It was tempted to bitch about my in and out signal. LOL. When is the thing going to be launch in Chicago? There are only 45 days left till the end of the year. |

| Interestingly, XOHM's website still doesn't list Chicago even as a "coming soon" network! It doesn't look like they have updated that recently though - I have not seen any new markets added to their list since the Baltimore launch (they still have Dallas, Fort Worth, Boston, Providence, Philadelphia listed). |

I would think after the Clearwire-Sprint JV deal is closed much more will be revealed. Until the new management team takes over at the new Clearwire company I don't expect to see much change at the old XOHM website. This is transition time. The JV deal is expected to close by years-end. |

| One of our esteemed employees was told by "a little birdie" at XOHM that Chicago will join Baltimore and DC as OFFICIAL XOHM cities in mid to late December. Just a few more weeks... |

I've waited years for decent, inexpensive wireless. One company had us wired 8 years ago - antennas on street lights - but ran out of money before flipping the switch.
So lurking here - did the "workaround" - and chose the Pick 2 - best bang for the buck - and unsure if Clear will keep this decent deal. Got the Zyxel modem and USB modem.
Two primary locations of interest - near Moto HQ - north Schaumburg, and an industrial park in Batavia - near Kirk and Fabyan - just north and center of Fermilab border.
Near Moto HQ - both modems detected the network (to level "2" on the Zyxel) - able to "activate" the Zyxel modem.
At same location, refused to allow the USB to activate - multiple tries - different times of day - even on different days. Appears to block access to the "https" XOhm web pages (but lets me into h**p://w*w.xohm.com - *'s needed to avoid "spam detection" - learned the hard way).
Speed on the Zyxel not worth much - about a good 3G speed.
In the Batavia industrial park - the USB didn't find the network. The Zyxel gets only level "1" - but drops like a brick to no bars - frequently.
When up, the speed on the Zyxel is roughly on par with 56k dial-up.
At a Gas-Mart at 38 and Fabyan, the USB picks up fine - and at this location, it *does* allow activation. Go figure...
Kept on during drive from Batavia to Schaumburg - east to County Farm - south to Elgin-Ohare - east to 53 - north to Algonquin - then west again. USB stick on extension cord on passenger headrest.
Nearly entire drive - the USB found no network - light stayed red.
But the now-activated USB allowing full internet access at my destination near Mot HQ.
Here's hoping things will improve when they officially flip the switch.
Curious lesson... a previous post suggests that no PC Card workaround activiations were being allowed in Chi - and I confirmed in Schaumburg. But go out to West Chicago - and you can!! (At least until they read this post) |

Hey all,
I got my home & usb units almost 2 weeks ago. Coverage was in and out for the first week. But since last weekend, it has been working great non-stop. That's the home modem. I live in the Lakewood Falls area of Plainfield. Never less than 3 bars anywhere in the house.
Took the modem with me to work, just west of the Loop. Exact same results. Spotty at first, but flawless since last weekend.
Can't wait to kill Comcast. But will wait until the official rollout.
Having issues with the usb unit. The drivers won't install correctly. Searching for help on Xohm does me no good. |

| What do you have? Register on the main page of XOHM under developer program and ask them your questions.. |

Also had issues - Device Manager stating it couldn't start the device - but then it magically started working. But that was from the included CD (with Connection Manager 1.0.20).
If you haven't done so, download the latest version of Connection Manager - 1.0.25A - from the Xohm website. Over at Dslreports, said that this supposedly fixes some of the install problems.
You've got to have Connection Manager running for the USB to actually connect - and change its light from red to green. Then you'll need to "activate" it. As said before - this could be problematic - you may have to go out towards West Chicago to do it. But even without activating, you can browse to w*w.xohm.com. |

Schaumburg area. Get two bars on Zyxel. Receives DHCP address. Worked OK last week. But not accessing internet this week. Subnet 68.25.53.xxx ....
Did they disable "home" access? But the USB card is still working...
Just me? Or others?
Thanks
