Is it true none of the existing WiMAX/XOHM modems, thus far have any external antenna ports? Why is this? Do the manufactures and providers not see any need or necessity for having one?

The two modems currently available (Samsung Expresscard and Zyxel Home Modem) from XOHM both have antenna ports:

Will you need two external antennas or just one? I noticed they have two antenna ports on the zyxel modem.

I read a posting on another site that states: tests of external mounted antennas using a dual-diversity solution (two antennas) have essentially the same results as using a single antenna connected to the primary send/receive port (left side next to the power supply on the ZyXEL modem).
Using only one external antenna could save some $$ if you are not in an extremely poor signal area.

Hi jackofall - are you referring to after market antennas? If so, where did you find them?

Will the old ARC Freedom tombstone antenna 3gstore used to sell work as well with the correct adapter? Mine is currently sitting in junk drawer and may come in handy at the office.

Specs:
ARC Wireless Freedom Antenna, 800 MHz - 3500 MHz, 50 Ohms Impedance, 0.8dB Antenna Gain, Omni-Directional Radiation, Vertical Polarization, 3 ft LMR-100 Equivalent Coaxial Cable, 6 inches height, Desk Stand/Suction Cup Mount

The ARC-IA2516B01 sells on ebay for less than the following web site:

wpsantennas.com/arc-ia2516b01-sprint-xohm-wimax-panel-antenna.aspx

The good thing is that it INCLUDES a 10 feet low loss cable (SMA male to SMA male) which plugs the antenna directly to the modem. Also the mount and the enclosure is also included in the offer. You can also participate to an online auction for better price.

Try search keyword Xohm on ebay or the following link if not sold:
