XOHM has been "sighted" in the following areas:
Baltimore (obviously)
Dallas
Chicago
DC
Boston
Philadelphia
Northern Virginia
XOHM.com also lists Providence as an upcoming location.
If you've seen XOHM in your area, please share! |

| Engadget is just now reporting that Xohm can work in other cities and other blogs are carrying their report. The news is so last week as you guys proved it in Chicago before anyone else, yet youse guys aren't getting the credit for the discovery. |

Does anybody know if one of the unofficial areas working is SE Michigan? I know that it's not even on the general radar as far as launch cities. But, I see so much new microwave antennas recently around my area, that it must be Wimax. Plus, Michigan has tended to be on the forefront of data.
I suppose I could sacrifice a modem and $10 for the day, but I'm just curious if anybody in Michigan has tried. |

| again, anyone willing to check out Columbus and/or Cincinnati and/or Cleveland? I know all 3 of these were planned launch areas, but no one has reported anything from there yet. |

confirmed that many areas in DFW Metroplex are operational, but not very likely to be at levels sprint would want to brag about yet:
wish they had done something to identify xohm network differently than "Sprint PCS" since thats the same way they identify their EVDO network.
xohm presence is much more widespread than i expected it to be, i found it in downtown dallas, just north of downtown, and then much further north than i would have guessed -- north of LBJ/635 !
strangely enough, across what had to be 100+ connection cycles, my IP address never changed... and i'm beginning to wonder if IP is tied to MAC address of device used. that remains to be seen.
even though i have "found" xohm to be present, its clear to me that it is not stable. i was never connected for more than 10mins at a time, but am in no position to complain, since dallas is not an officially announced city, and isn't planned for launch until 2009? |

There are rumblings in blogs that Sprint won't officially release any more Xohm cities until the Clearwire deal is approved by the end of the year.
Hopefully it's wrong. It would be unfortunate if Chicago/DC didn't make it by the end of the year as they are probably very close to pulling the trigger. I'm wondering if the iPCS suit might hold up Chicago as well though. |

A Xohm rep claims that WiMAX will equal Sprint 3G coverage by 2011. I highly doubt it. EVDO covers well over 230 million population. I don't think they own spectrum in enough markets yet to hit over 140 million pops, even with Clearwire. And to add an extra 100m pops in a year doesn't sound realistic.
[quote"We'll build out the network so that it will be available to where 80 million people live or work by the end of 2009," adds Shen. "By 2010, the plan is to have a network that reaches 140 million people. In 2011, Xohm will match the coverage of Sprint's current 3G EV-DO network."[/quote]
A pretty good article...
