Did Sprint / XOHM get wise to the activation loophole?

One of our employees was experiencing issues connecting with his ExpressCard in the Chicago area and was told by a XOHM rep that they have put a halt to activations outside of Baltimore ("be patient!"). However, another of our employees in Dallas has NOT been having such issues.

How about you folks? Problems? Success stories? Or just "being patient?"

I called and canceled my service and told the rep that I was trying to use the work around here in Chicago (he laughed). Was told that Chicago would be up and running soon, so I will just wait and reactivate my express card.

The ExpressCard has been the most troublesome device of the 3, by far. All of our tests have shown slower speeds than what we got from the USB and Home Modem - in the same location, same time - and there have been a lot of problems with activation outside Baltimore (even though we were able to activate our other devices with no problem).

We put together a comparison of the 3 modems over on 4Ginfo.com - you can check it out here

A planned combo EVDO/WiMAX USB device will hopefully be released by the end of the year, and will apparently be able to do HSPA for roaming in other countries as well. Might want to wait for that device, though it may require the same terms/rates of EVDO, 2 yr contract, 5GB limit for EVDO, etc.

Looking forward to see how Sprint deploys combo cards, TOS/rates wise.
