The Xohm site is now showing actual laptop models with WiMAX...

I wonder if they have the Xohm connection manager or their own?

We at 4Ginfo are not impressed with the idea of using an embedded device as your WiMAX modem. You can't attach an antenna, use a router, upgrade - and more!

Check out our reasons on 4Ginfo:

I'd agree with all of that. One positive thing about built in WiMAX for the industry is that once it becomes a standard item in most laptops like WiFi is today, it will become a self-marketing service. Someone sees a hotspot, probably thinks it's WiFi and subscribes with no contract. In a year or so, many will be buying WiMAX laptops and not even know it.

WiMAX built into the laptop is great for the industry but not great for end users. It needs to happen for the sake of the industry (any will always attempt to trap customers), but informed users, 4ginfo readers, should really consider combo EVDO/WiMAX external cards coming later this year.
