Thanks, I kind of figured that that was the deal, but wanted to check with people that are actually using the service. I guess my modem will be here before the weekend so I can try it out in Herndon and report back. _________________ --Larry |

Got the modem up and running this morning without too much drama. My signal is a little low, but I have it placed on my desk at work and I am not terribly close to the windows. Off to go figure out which way to orient the device for best reception. _________________ --Larry |

Dont forget to download and use the optimizer...
Helpful Tool:
The XOHM Optimizer is a simple utility designed to help you find the best location for your WiMAX Modem, such as a ZyXEL modem. The RSSI and CINR values give you a general idea of how good your network connection is. The higher the numbers, the better. Keep in mind that RSSI is a negative value so, for example, -67 is higher (and better) than -80.

Yep, just got that installed and updated AIR. Right now my speeds are pretty pathetic, but I will go find a quiet spot near a window to see if it improves. _________________ --Larry |

RSSI: -89, CINR: 14, so yeah, pretty poor.
Speeds are around 600 down, but uploads have been sub 100 with latencies 150-200ms. Yikes. _________________ --Larry |

How about before fort belvoir area? I live about 2 miles north of fort belvoir along route 1, zip 22309. Thanks! |

I have an older tombstone I use with my S720 and picked up the correct adapter to hook it to the Zyxel modem, but when I do that I get 0 signal when connected to either input. _________________ --Larry |

Got my U300 today, not Xhom for me--signal bar was 2 and I can go as far as "Obtaining IP Address", but nothing more, then I was switched back to EVDO Rev. A.
Question, do I have to activate the device in an official Xhom area first, or 2 bars is not enough for me to get on 4G.
By the way, my Kyocera KR2 is working ok with the U300, at least on the EVDO Rev. A part--I am typing this via Rev. A through the KR2. |
