CEO Ben Wolff said that shareholders will vote Thursday Nov. 20 on whether or not to approve the merger with Sprint's WiMAX business unit. Wolff says that the merger is still on track for a end of year closing, pending the shareholder vote and other administrative actions.
After the merger closes the expected infusion of $3.2 billion in capital from Google, Intel, Comcast and others will give the New Clearwire JV the funds to start building out it's mobile WiMAX network coast to coast.
Looks like Clearwire shareholders have approved the Sprint merger. The $3B+ investment from Intel/Google/cable companies can now proceed. The possibility of a true nationwide WiMAX network is one step closer.
