AT&T put out a press release announcing big plans for improving their 3G network over the next two years, which is fabulous.... until you get to the part about LTE trials not even starting until 2010 with the first deployments occurring the following year.
Do you think it's a mistake for AT&T to put their resources towards 3G when the ultimate goal is to have LTE - which is capable of much faster speeds - replace it within a few years?

AT&T discussed their 4G plans again this week, and this time the news is slightly more promising - they are hoping to be able to re-use some components of their existing 3G network, which would make the transition much easier.
