| Hi, I was wondering if anyone is having success with 4G in Washington DC. When launched in DC, will 4G be available in the southern Maryland area? |

I am almost positive Xohm works in the D.C. Area. But there are no plans for 2009 for Clear's service in D.C. But it will roll out in 2010.
So just keep your hopes up and let's pray to whatever deity is out there that it won't be delayed. |

| I think it only works in the downtown areas of DC. I'm in upper NW DC and there is no service. The Northern Virginia (Arlington) area works. |

i fear the details of where there is coverage and where there is very murky because if coverage is not officially announced observed coverage can easily be turned off.
there is an oft-quoted coverage tool for people to post their coverage experiences at some site called 4Gmaps whose link i'm not allowed to post. unfortunately, i drove over to many of those virginia sites only to find no signal at all exactly where someone before me back in february or so had gotten 8Mbps (frontier ave in Springfield, VA). i used that one as an example because that test point said it used the USB Modem which is what i was using driving around that day.
and i mention the type of modem because i believe there must be something different between the home WiMax and the mobile WiMax coverage or maybe authentication? i get great WiMax service using my home modem, i also detect great WiMAX signal using my USB Modem. however, when the connection manager says "Ready to Connect" and then i click "Connect", it just goes "Connecting..." for a few seconds before "Disconnecting...". it works fine in the Baltimore area so i'm assuming they just don't want you to connect with a mobile connection in unofficial areas. please tell me i'm wrong and someone has found a fix for this! |

I used to be able to pick it up in Herndon, but it has been terrible/non existent for the past couple of months. I finally got around to canceling it this month. I did my 6 months at $25 and two more at $35; of course those months were the ones where I could not get signal 90% of the time. _________________ --Larry |

i guess stuff is changing.
my home modem connection, which was very solid for over half a year, stopped working at around 3am on 10/30/2009. the modem is now constantly in DL_SYN mode. does that mean i have no signal or something else?
on the other hand, my mobile connection usb modem, which always showed signal in certain areas but would never connect, now does connect. unfortunately, the usb modem picks up almost no signal at all at home. |

| I also have the home modem and it is doing the same thing you're talking about. clear will be doing a free hardware upgrade for current xohm customers sometime in January as the customer service person explained to me. |
