| Quote: | It appears that Verizon Wireless may be launching their 4G LTE network in Alabama, Georgia, and Minnesota according to announcements made at CTIA Wireless 2010. Verizon Wireless announced that they will be using Telecom Transport Management (TTM) cell site backhaul services to launch part of their 4G LTE network in parts of Minnesota.
Here is an excerpt from the press release on this topic: |
| Code: | “We are thrilled to help Verizon Wireless launch and grow its LTE offering in portions of Minnesota,” said TTM’s Chief Executive Officer, Lynn Refer. “As the wireless industry switches from T-1s to Ethernet backhaul, we are proud to work through the migration with a leader such as Verizon Wireless. The bandwidth that TTM is now deploying at each LTE cell site will enable Verizon Wireless to seamlessly scale and meet the dramatic growth in consumer data consumption.”
Nicola Palmer, Verizon Wireless network vice president, said, “As we prepare for the launch of our 4G LTE network, we’re pleased to be working with TTM in portions of Minnesota.” |
| Quote: | Verizon Wireless also announced that they are also teaming up with USCarrier Telecom to supply backhaul links to LTE cell sites to build the first 4G LTE networks in Georgia and Alabama.
Here is an excerpt from the press release on this topic: |
| Code: | USCarrier is utilizing the most advanced Dense Wave Division Multiplexing (DWDM) transmission over its high-capacity optical transport network and will supply backhaul links between major Verizon Wireless switch centers throughout Georgia and Alabama. Additionally, USCarrier is coordinating efforts with Verizon Wireless partners to aggregate cell tower traffic to major switch centers.
“Verizon Wireless has been one of USCarrier’s most prominent customers since 2004,” said Joaquin Luna, president of USCarrier Telecom. “Because of the increased demand for mobile data traffic, USCarrier is dedicated to staying in the forefront of network technology as we continuously upgrade our core network to help deliver the most innovative, cost-effective 3G and 4G services available to Verizon Wireless.”
Nicola Palmer, Verizon Wireless network vice president, said, “USCarrier Telecom has been a long-time partner, and together we are already working hard to ensure that our network in Georgia and Alabama will be ready to handle the bandwidth required for our 4G network.” |
