|

KC was announced to get WiMAX late this year but Hesse leaked in a local chamber meeting that it will be available sooner, this summer, likely when EVO phone is released. Don't be surprised if they are ahead of schedule and announce more cities earlier, when EVO is released (expected in June/July).
A friend of a friend says that WiMAX is already active downtown and other parts of KC metro.
I'm trying to decide if I try an Overdrive with 30-day return or wait for the EVO phone. I'm itchy to try it.
Since I already have a Sprint account, can I get a full 30-day refund to test Overdrive or is it for new customers only? |

KC is now on the Clear coverage maps.

Odd, KC hasn't been officially announced yet. Looks like only about 50% of metro covered so far, if that. Some very high income areas have no coverage. |

Sprint has officially launched their service in Kansas City - read the press release here.
Since Sprint and CLEAR use the same network, CLEAR is also available - but they have not put out a press release yet. |

I typically get 3-7Mbps in midtown KC condo with EVO. At night, can consistently get closer to 8Mbps. EVO seems to be a little slower than Overdrive though. A friend with OD tested in same spot and can typically get 6Mbps consistently and 10Mbps best case. We'll see what happens when the towers get more load.
I used EVO as a 4G hotspot to PS3 and was able to stream Netflix HD with no rebuffering while have two laptops connected AND talking on phone at the same time. I'm thinking of using a Buffalo router as a repeater and getting rid of cable modem.
