I would prefer to go with a month to month 4G only plan with Clear rather then Sprint - and wondered if I buy a used Sprint Overdrive device, can I just use that?

Thanks,
Adam

Hi,

I am wondering the same thing but have thus far been unsuccessful in finding any additional info in regards to this. Have you (or anyone else) found any additional information as to whether this is possible?

I found another post here that claimed that this was impossible because the serial #s are registered to each respective carrier but as a CLEAR customer I know you can click "Add a Service" and specify that you will providing your own device, so it seems like this should be possible.

The only reason I want to really do this though is because I *hate* using USB dongles since they're so accident prone (I'd rather have a device that I can leave detached from my laptop and isn't attached, sticking out just waiting to be banged into). What's retarded is CLEAR refuses to lease me an Overdrive without upgrading my plan to a 3G/4G plan as well Sad (even though I have no real need for 3G access, *however* I would still like to use the device *just in case* I do travel to an area that doesn't have 4G access I can easily activate 3G access with a simple phone call- since changes take effect pretty instantaneously).

Regards,
-B

Hello,

No, the Overdrive is locked to Sprint and cannot be used on CLEAR's network. If you're interested in CLEAR, they do offer a CLEAR Spot 3G/4G mobile hotspot here - CLEAR Spot 3G/4G Mobile Hotspot
